SOFT BEASTS is a Gothic inspired physical theatre piece that tells the story of LUCY a lovely lonely girl that grew having her toys as replacement to the love from her parents. One day she gets a very special present from her parents, a small box that holds magic creatures that would help her to overcome her loveliness.

“LUCY  was clever, clean, charismatic .

She could tell you every single small detail about her toys, even the small damages and how they happened.

She could tell you lots of things, but ….

If she was asked about her family and parents, She couldn´t say much. Her parents were always so busy with the business of the day that they hardly ever had time to her. After while she forgot the basic informations about them; how the looked like, how they spoke, their smell, skin color and most of all … their love. but she knew how their voice sounded  and how they wrote. They always left messages on the answering machine and notes on the food to be prepared on the micro wave and … Toys.”

Exploring Visuals is a multimedia contemporary dance theater that studies modern commercial manipulation of the public. The project is inspired by the life and work of Edward Bernays, who stated that “society consents to have its choice narrowed to ideas and objects brought to its attention through propaganda.”

Bernays, Sigmund Freud’s nephew, is the father of the modern day public relations industry. He initiated the first use of psychotherapy techniques, crowd psychology, and the psychology of lies in big business advertising to sway public opinion, accelerate consumerism, and construct psychological control of society.

Exploring Visuals focuses on the purely visual aspects of the tools Bernays employed to manipulate people: business logos and commercials, images that “sell” and which latch onto human unconscious impulses—whether a desirable lie or the truth. We focus on the creation of these images which manipulate/create our impulses and convince us to trade our ‘needs’ for ‘desires.’

Exploring Visuals accesses the perspective from which the public relations industry has engineered consent in the masses. We proceed to question the roots of modern consumerism, constructed self-image, our attitude toward fashion and a growing culture of superficiality.

Whether you call it marketing, branding, or advertising, we are all influenced in our decisions and unconscious choices by these sales pitches and messages on a daily basis. Exploring Visuals collects the disparate forces in media propaganda which guide our false consciousness about “free choice” and offers rapturous resistance against the slumber behind consumerism.

FOR ONE’S SAKE deals with the human conflict of  struggling between being and seeking. A decision of one to giving up of oneself´s power in a need of being part of something greater than oneself , a greater “US”. There´s no I alone

4 persons struggling  as  uncompleted beings  to find possibilities in a  place to connect himself / herself with others and became part of something in a hope to fill themselves with more “humanity”.

Actions that manifests in their essence this preoccupation with people as beings in the world and with the world , preoccupation with what and how we are “beings”.

Rambles and actions, which are more anthropological than anthropocentric.

The very structure of their thought has been conditioned by the contradictions of the concrete, existential situation by which they were shaped.  Oppressed by a society which does not recognize  individuals , but rather than that groups / classes/ casts / crowds and so on. This is their model of humanity.

Under these circumstances they cannot “consider” themselves sufficiently clearly to objectivize it — to discover themselves “outside” themselves.  But their perception of themselves as “INDIVIDUALS” is impaired by their submersion in the reality of “SOCIETY” seeking for individual identity.

BODY PLAY is performance which catalogues our movement research on “The Conscious Body System” (a movement system developed by Chaim Gebber.) In solos, duos, and groups dancers use physiology like skin, bones, and muscles as singular tools to create body rituals.

We situate dance making through physiology and humans as an un-separated race. Whereas bodies have historically separated people by color, shape, size, and sex, in “Body Play” we view it as a unifying reality.  Our process emphasizes senses and the information found from e.g. touch and weight.  Cueing from physiological necessity we generate art based in anatomical design of the thinking primitive body in motion.  In one score we practice blind and in contact.  This brings attention to physiological systems in movement improvisation and activates or relaxes muscles accordingly, compelling the performers to attend to the effect motion and contact has on their body. In another score, twisting and locking joints results in spirals and creates material directly from the skeleton’s capacities.

Unification, culture, and social behaviors comprise the foundation of our work and process. Additionally, by collaborating with people from different origins we can understand how integrating differences also reveals commonalities e.g. the body and its needs, limitations, and reactions.

From February 29th to March 5th 2016  Chaim Gebber-Open Scene will be presenting Body Play in Turin as part of the dance festival CAOS.




6 performers using a guided improvisation system directed by CHAIM GEBBER plays with the idea of renovation /  transformation inspired by the interpretation of the number 20 on the Tarot card ( Judgment). The performers creates within 20min.  20 pictures / Moments symbolizing birth and transformation.

With the “The Green Village”, CHAIM GEBBER presents a study on the art and energy of erotica and fetish. The play is equal parts dance, interactive performance art, and research using BDSM and sexuality as tools to illuminate the elemental Respect, Trust, and Exposure inherent in the relationships between practitioners of BDSM.  In popular culture, the sex act marks only a small point in the spectrum of Eroticism and Sexuality, yet it hordes the focus. “The Green Village” urges a widening of our Erotic musings into this spectrum of possibilities. This work shifts the perceptive lens of eroticism by elaborating in performative flare the components involved when people fetishize a profane object and fill it with life, thereby transforming it into a memorable totem. “The Green Village” composes an intimate and evocative atmosphere in space and among the public body.  Mystery, ferocious spectacle and crackling moments, “The Green Village” invites the viewer to confront their desires and exercise personal honesty.
